You're approximately as healthy as your liver in terms of health, and your skin is a reflection of your liver, so if your liver isn't in good form, neither will your skin. The liver is a large organ that facilitates digestion and weighs roughly three pounds.
It mostly aids in blood clotting.
It aids in the detoxification of toxins.
As it turns out,
Turn poisonous things into harmless things. Okay, so let's dive right in and go through
1. soy protein isolates
If you want to stay away from soy protein isolates, here's a good question to ask.
When purchasing diet smoothies, diet powders, tein bars, or veggie burgers, always read the label; if it contains soy protein isolates, I do not recommend taking it. Soy protein isolates were introduced to me by a group of people who came into my clinic on an Ideal Protein diet, which was low in carbs but high in fat.
So it was filled with soy protein isolates, and I noticed that when people went on that program and lost weight, they didn't look healthy, and a number of them developed serious issues like liver inflammation, higher levels of liver enzymes, a lot of digestive problems, and gallbladder issues, which cleared up once they stopped using those products. They fared far better in every way.
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • Diet shakes • Diet powders • Protein bars • Veggie burgers
2. Fructose
This explains why people who consume a lot of high fructose corn syrup have a considerably higher rate of fatty livers than others.
If they were only eating glucose, and even though people think agave nectar is good, it's not because it contains fructose, but here's the thing: fructose has a low glycemic index, about 19. Okay, so if you have sugar that has half glucose and half fructose, it'll be exactly in the middle, about 74-75-ish, but the point is that if you simply rely on the glycemic index, okay, that's your guiding principle, and you're like, wow, it's low, you're wrong.
If you don't realize that the liver has to process that specific sugar and that it indirectly causes a slew of issues, including insulin resistance, you may become more aware and do the correct thing by avoiding too much fructose. Another thing to keep in mind is that, despite its low glycemic index, fructose is a bad sugar for the liver, especially if you want to prevent developing a fatty liver. Another aspect to consider is that, while being low on the glycemic index, especially when dealing with high fructose corn syrup, all of that corn is GMO, which adds another layer of toxicity, such as glyphosate, a bad herbicide.
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • High fructose corn syrup • Fruit • Agave nectar • Table sugar
3. Vegetable Fats
So vegetable oils sound so healthy, don't they? I mean, if you look at the nutritional profile of leafy greens, you'll see that there's not much oil or fat in vegetables. So despite being called vegetable oils, they're really grain oils and they're like bean oils, like soybean oil. I'm talking about corn oil, soy oil, canola oil, and cottonseed oil. These oils are very processed and very oxidizing to your tissues, which means we've made a slight adjustment to these oils.
I don't know 30 to 40 years ago when they switched all of our saturated fats with unsaturated fats, unfortunately, so our membranes now are being built with these unsaturated fats and it's creating a lot of problems with inflammation and, well, with that comes a lot of other issues, not to mention GMO, okay more glyphosate, which is roundup ready in these products, so what you want to do is consume a lot more omega-3 fatty acids. And just as a FYI, there was a meta-analysis with over 72 different studies that showed that there was no benefit from shifting from saturated fats to unsaturated fats. There were zero benefits. In fact, there are a lot of negative things that have occurred all over the
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • Corn oil • Soy oil • Canola oil • Cottonseed oil
4. Whey protein powder
Whey protein powder Now thinks about what whey protein powder is. It's a protein in milk and dairy and it's highly concentrated to be extremely low fat, if not zero fat, and anytime you consume something that's refined out of the normal complex that nature is designed to be, it comes with a package.
So whey protein is inflammatory, it's a bit toxic to the liver, it increases inflammatory markers, markers, and I remember long ago before I had any awareness of health, I wanted to gain weight. I consumed protein powder and I started chowing that stuff down, and man did I get sick because not only was it filled with whey protein powder, it was filled with
The next thing on the list is maltodextrin, so when you consume protein, make sure you consume it with the fat that nature has packaged that protein with.
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • Protein powders
5. Maltodextrin
It's in so many foods it's crazy. It's in all the protein powders as the first ingredient. Here's the problem with maltodextrin. It's a synthesized or synthetic sugar, and it is higher than glucose on the glycemic index. Okay, it ranges between 110 to 100 and I think 19. So you're consuming something way worse than sugar for your blood sugar, for your pancreas, for your weight, for your liver, and maltodextrin is put in a lot of vitamins. It's used as a filler; it's used as a drying agent for oil.
It's hidden in a lot of so-called keto-friendly foods, which I'm going to be doing a lot of education about, but basically, it makes your liver fattier and, before I forget, I was going to mention it's made from GMO ingredients, but you want to avoid it. They even use it in post-workout gels. It's magnificent It's magnificent in puddings It's in protein bars. It's in a lot of different things.
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • Protein powders • Certain vitamin supplements • Certain “keto-friendly” foods • Foods that contain fillers or drying agents • Post-workout gels • Splenda • Puddings • Protein bars
6. Aflatoxins
. So you want to stop consuming aflatoxins? Now, what is aflatoxin? Well, it's a toxin from a certain fungus that is carcinogenic to your liver, so your liver does not like this, and you're primarily going to find it in peanuts and corn. Okay, and especially if it's in a moist human environment. So if you consume peanuts or peanut butter, the best way to make sure you don't get aflatoxin is to consume Valencian peanuts. Valencia peanuts are a lot drier and they're usually not going to have aflatoxins, especially if you get organic Valencia peanut butter. Of course, if you've been watching my videos, you're not going to be consuming corn, but corn is in a lot of products, so you're going to have to watch that as well.
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • Peanuts • Corn
7. MSG
Okay, it's msg. It's in a lot of different forms, including modified food starch, but you really want to start reading the ingredients because they put this in pork rinds. It's in so many foods as a flavor enhancer. They use it in all the fast food restaurants to enhance the flavor because MSG causes you to eat more of it. It's definitely in Chinese food, and so there's a lot of sodium that's hidden. It's not really salty, but you're going to get fluid retention as well after you consume it, but that's not a big problem.
The big problem is that it's toxic to your liver and it's even in things like, um, cottage cheese if you're getting commercial cottage cheese, but I would just recommend starting reading the ingredients. ingredients.
Common foods that contain this ingredient: • Peanuts • Corn
. When I was in practice, so many of my patients complained of being sick. I simply asked them when they started feeling sick and what they ate just before that, and there was usually some ingredient on this list that they weren't aware of. They didn't make the connection.
Now, what about red meat? Is red meat bad for the liver? The answer is no, unless you have an iron deficiency. So broccoli and Brussels sprouts are definitely foods you want to consume on a regular basis now that you have this information. The next video that I'm going to recommend is what to consume or what to do to repair your liver. You should look into it.
